How to check sehat card eligibility?
Currently, all Pakistani citizens who are earning $2/day or less are eligible to get a sehat card. Still, to confirm your eligibility, you need to follow one of the given methods;
- Sehat card check online
To check your sehat sahulat card eligibility status online, you first need to visit the official website. On the home page, you’d find two boxes in the right corner. Enter your 13-digit CNIC number in the first box. In the second box, enter the captcha code provided in the image and press the check eligibility button. Resultantly, you’ll be notified through a confirmation or rejection message about whether you and your family members are eligible for sehat card or not. - Sehat card check via SMS
If you live in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, you can check your eligibility for a Sehat card by sending your 13-digit CNIC number to 9780. However, for all other citizens, who live in other parts/provinces of the country, the sms code is 8500.
The SMS code is not Toll-free and a significant amount of credit will be deducted from your account to send the message. - Sehat card check via app
The government has also launched an app named Naya Pakistan Qaumi Sehat Card which you can download from the Apple app store or Google Play store. The method of checking eligibility status via this app is the same as for checking via the website since you just need to enter your CNIC number in the corresponding section and wait for the response.
All these methods are valid and applicable from all around the country. However, if you face any kind of problem or difficulty, you may contact the helpline number 0800-09009.
If you are declared eligible by the officials, you can get your sehat card from the respective card distribution center located nearest to your district. However, you can also use your national identity card as your sehat card until you don’t get a real one from the government. Before visiting an impaneled hospital, make sure you carry all the essential documents to get treatment under the sehat sahulat card program.
These documents include your CNIC, Sehat card, and B-Form (if the patient is under 18 years). On visiting the hospital, navigate to the sehat sahulat program counter, verify your documents, and enjoy free of cost medical treatment.
What does sehat card cover?
Other than medical treatment for emergencies and chronic diseases, a sehat card beneficiary can enjoy multiple health benefits including;
- Free of cost hospitalization, referral transportation, free follow-ups, and maternity services.
- Along with secondary care services, there’s a wide range of major diseases which are covered under the sehat card priority package.
- If a Sehat cardholder dies during the treatment, his family will get an amount of around PKR 10,000 to make burial arrangements.
- All cardholders can get medical treatment worth 720,000 per year. However, if the cardholder or his family is suffering from a major disease, this amount can be increased further and the government can provide an increment of around PKR 360,000 annually to get the treatment completed.
What are healthcare packages offered under a sehat card?
At this time, two healthcare packages are being offered to the Sehat card beneficiary which includes a priority treatment package and a secondary treatment package.
These packages provide initial and additional coverage of around 300,000 and 60,000/year/family respectively. One thing which is important to mention here is that this amount can also be used for inpatient medical services. So, if you don’t use this coverage amount for medical treatment, no amount will be ever paid to you for any other purpose. And as mentioned before, the card also covers the transportation allowance as the amount of PKR 1000 is paid per visit, per family for three visits a year.
