In 2019, the Government of Pakistan launched the Ehsaas Rashan program for the extremely poor people of the country so they can afford essential grocery items such as wheat flour, sugar, cooking oil, pulses, etc. On getting registered in this Rashan program, beneficiaries could enjoy a 30-40% subsidy on grocery items. Also, they may receive a stipend of around PKR 2000-4500 based on their financial condition and location. 

The new government has launched another scheme, under the umbrella of the Ehsas Rashan program by the name Ehsaas hum Qadam program in which a monthly stipend is provided to people with disabilities regardless of their age and gender. 

To be eligible for the funding, applicants must be disabled naturally. Likewise, the applicant must be a Pakistani Citizen with a PMT score below 30. Some important details of the ehsaas hum qadam program are mentioned in the table given below;

To check eligibility for this Hum Qadam program, the government has officially launched the 8123 Check Online portal. How one can use this web portal to check eligibility and how you can get registered for this ehsas program using the portal and sms service, let’s find out!

8123 Check Online Portal

8123 web portal can be used to check eligibility and make registration for people who live in Punjab districts of Bhakkar, Bahawalpur, Attock, Bahawalnagar, Chakwal, Faisalabad, Dg Khan, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Jhelum, Hafizabad, Jhang, Kasur, Khushab, Khanewal, Leh, Lodhran, Lahore, Multan, Muzaffargarh, Mandi Bahauddin, Okara, Narowal, Rawalpindi, Pakpattan, Rahim Yar Khan, Rajanpur, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Wahari, and TT Singh. 

For this purpose, all you need to do is to follow the given steps;

  • Visit the ehsaas Rashan program web portal and on the home page, you’d see two windows; one for registration and the other one to check eligibility. 
  • Select the eligibility window and you’d be navigated to another web page where a blank box will be shown. Enter your CNIC number there and click on the Check button. 
  • In a few days, you’ll be informed about your eligibility after which you need to visit the official 8123 ehsaas website once again. 
  • This time, on landing the home page, you’d find a button stating apply for hum Qadam rashan. Press the button and a registration form will open up on your screen. 
  • Fill out the form by entering your personal information such as name, CNIC number, phone number, or other contact details.
  • Provide information about your employment status, monthly income, and occupation.
  • Provide information about your special needs or disability 
  • Review your application 
  • Lastly, press the register button, close the tab, and wait for a few days to get a response from officials. 

The government of Punjab has decided to send confirmation/verification messages from January 1, 2023. One thing you need to make sure about is that your special CNIC should be valid and not expired. After putting the CNIC number in the corresponding section, read the digits carefully before pressing the register button. However, disabled people who are under 18 years can use their B-form for registration and type the B-form number in the registration form. 

In addition to having a valid CNIC, anyone who wants to get registered via the 8123 web portal should have a mobile SIM card registered in his name and CNIC number. During the registration process, your mobile phone, containing the mentioned SIM card, should be ON because a four-digit code will be sent to your number. To complete the registration process, you must enter that pin code as soon as you receive it otherwise, the code will expire and you’d have to restart the process all over again.

Getting registered via 8123 SMS service

Besides the 8123 Check Online portal, you can also apply or register for the Ehsaas Hum Qadam program via the 8123 SMS service. In this method, all you need to do is to follow the given steps;

  • First of all, you need to send your 13-digit CNIC number along with the HQ number to the 8123 code via SMS. The method of typing the information should be as follows;

HQ (Space) CNIC NUMBER(Without space or dashes)

  • After a couple of days, you’ll receive a confirmation message about your eligibility. If you are declared eligible, you need to visit the nearest land-based registration center to proceed further. 
  • There, you have to verify your information and provide your thumb impression to the desk staff. 

And that’s it! Your name will be registered and you’ll start receiving your stipend from ehsaas on a monthly basis.

Getting registered via the Ehsaas Hum Qadam app

One thing that is pertinent to mention here is that all disabled people (men and women) must participate in the National Prosperity Survey to qualify for the Ehsaas Hum Qadam program. People who are not registered in the survey or don’t mention their disability during the survey will be considered non-eligible for the program and won’t be able to receive their monthly cash aid. 

Even though the cash aid for naturally disabled people is PKR 2000, those who are half handicapped but can work will be eligible to receive PKR 1500.
