Students enrolled in MBA Program (3.5 years, 2.5 years, and 1.5 years).

Ineligible Students for PM Laptop Schemes

Following students will NOT be eligible for laptops under this scheme

Eligible students enrolled at private sector higher education institutes (HEIs).
Eligible students enrolled at government degree and postgraduate colleges, as well as affiliated colleges.
Eligible students who have previously received a laptop through any Federal or Provincial Government scheme.
Exclusion of foreign nationals, except students from AJK (Azad Jammu and Kashmir).
Students who have not applied online or whose applications have not been received through the online portal.
Laptop award eligibility will be determined at the time of distribution, subject to the provision of required documents and proof of academic performance.
Students who fail to produce the necessary documents and academic performance evidence, which qualified them for the laptop, will not receive the award.
Previously selected students who have completed their degree program before the laptop distribution date.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has launched Youth Laptop Scheme 2023, offering free laptops to Bachelor, MPhil, and Ph.D. students. The deadline for the laptop scheme is 20^th June 2023.

Distribution Strategy/Selection Criteria

The student applies online through the HEC online portal before the deadline.
The system filters eligible and ineligible students based on the application.
The Focal Person of the relevant department verifies the student’s data through their online focal person account, including Name, CNIC, Department, Degree Level, Last exam percentage/CGPA, etc.
The University Focal Person is responsible for the verification process.
Any discrepancies found in the student’s data are amended by updating/editing the student’s information obtained from the Institute or the student themselves.
The focal person can disapprove, verify, or make corrections to the student’s application within the given timeline, depending on the nature of the application.
Each Institute receives a share of laptops based on a predefined quota outlined in the eligibility and merit criteria.
After the verification deadline, an automated process generates merit lists for each University by HEC.
HEC shares the provisional merit list with the institutes for cross-checking, and institutes have 15 days to respond.
Upon resolving any discrepancies from the provisional merit list, HEC shares the final merit list with the institutes.
Institutes are required to display the final merit list on their Notice board, Website, or Social Media page along with a distribution timeline.
The final merit lists are published on an online portal accessible to students and the general public to view the merit status of each individual.

Distribution Criteria

The distribution criteria have been defined as follows:

Laptops distribution in each degree program (PhD, MS/M.Phil., and 16 Years of education) will be based solely on merit.
The distribution share will be determined based on university enrollment and specific quotas for each degree program.
Quotas for laptops will be allocated at different levels, including University Quota, Campus Quota, Degree Program Quota, Department Quota, and Years-wise distribution.
As per the directives from the Prime Minister’s office, the quota for Balochistan Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) has been fixed at 14%, which accounts for 14,000 laptops. Only students from accredited universities in Balochistan will be accommodated under this allocated quota.
The remaining 86,000 laptops will be allocated among public sector HEIs, considering their enrollment preferences.
